Bruxism (occlusal splint)
Installing an occlusal splint can help persons with bruxism and solve certain problems with teeth grinding.
Cerec 3D
CEREC® 3D restoration: once your cavity or filling has been removed, the surface of your tooth is sprinkled with CEREC® powder. Using an intraoral laser camera, we obtain a digital image that we transfer to the computer. Using the CEREC® 3D computer program, the restoration of your tooth is planned using 3D drawings. The information is then relayed to a separate milling machine to create the restoration (it takes 8 to 18 minutes depending on its complexity). The restoration is tried in your mouth to ensure proper fit, bonded to your prepared tooth with a high-strength cement, and polished.
Crowns and bridges
Dental crowns and bridges are fixed prosthetic devices that restore or replace one or several teeth that have been permanently damaged.
Dental Restauration
Dental restoration is a common procedure that repairs a tooth damaged by decay, fracture, or wear. It helps restore the tooth’s natural shape, function, and appearance, while also protecting it from further damage. We offer dental restoration with amalgam or composite resin.
Dental Surgeries
In general dentistry, simple dental surgeries refer to basic procedures, such as removing a tooth that is already loose or easily accessible. Complex surgery requires more precision and time, for example, when a tooth is broken, stuck in the bone, or located in a more difficult-to-reach area.
Dental aesthetics
Dental aesthetics: Accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) and a graduate of Université Laval as a dental surgeon, Dr. Vachon has been providing cosmetic dentistry services for nearly 30 years. She combines know-how and technology to deliver accurate diagnoses and provide treatments according to the standards of her profession. Dental whitening, preservation, restoration and orthodontics: dental aesthetics is more than a beautiful smile… it’s a healthy smile!
Dental bridge
A dental bridge is a fixed device used to replace one or more missing teeth, supported by adjacent natural teeth (the “abutments”) or dental implants.
Dental emergencies
In general dentistry, dental emergencies refer to situations that require rapid intervention to relieve pain or prevent the condition of the tooth from worsening. This could be a broken tooth, an infection, severe pain, or even a lost filling. Our team is here to see you quickly and restore your comfort.
Diastema between teeth (triangles noirs)
A diastema (gap) between teeth is a dark triangle between the teeth. This can occur following orthodontic or periodontal treatments.
While these triangles may be aesthetically disturbing, it is important to treat them to prevent bone loss and/or gingival papilla loss. We offer a minimally invasive treatment, led by Dr. Caroline Mercier, that is generally completed in a single appointment. A range of composite colors is available. The result is immediate, with closure of the triangles and a beautiful shine. Call us today for a consultation.
Digital radiography
Digital radiography produces higher-quality images than traditional radiography. Furthermore,
It reduces radiation exposure by approximately 75%.
It allows for a more precise view of dental structures.
It appears instantly on the computer screen.
It is easy for the patient to view.
Our clinic has equipped itself with the best technology to offer you optimal and safe service.
Endodontics (root canal treatment)
A root canal treatment, otherwise known as endodontics, can preserve a tooth that has been damaged or is dead. Keeping the natural tooth helps maintain the alignment of the teeth and avoid various other problems.
- Root canal treatment
- Root canal retreatment
- External and internal resorption
- Management of supra- and infra-bony perforations
- Removal of prefabricated posts
- Periapical surgery
- Apexogenesis
- Apexification
- Reimplantation
- Removal of screwed or cast posts
Free autogenous graft
A free autogenous graft is a dental surgical technique in which a piece of tissue, called a graft, is taken directly from the patient’s palate and then placed on an area of receding or weakened gum tissue to thicken it and slow down the recession.
Gum grafts
Gum grafts are a surgical procedure to correct receding gums, called gingival recession, and improve the appearance of the gums.
Mouth guards (sports)
Mouth guards for sports are used mainly to avoid injury to the teeth. In addition to reducing the chances of a concussion, a mouth guard protects the teeth against possible trauma.
Papillon bridge
An artificial tooth is made in a laboratory and is attached to the teeth surrounding the gap using small metal wings.
Pedodontics
In general dentistry, pediatric dentistry (pedodontics) refers to dental care provided to children, ranging from prevention (hygiene, fluoride, sealants) to cavity treatments or extractions, while taking into account their growth, development, and comfort.
Teeth whitening with custom-made trays
Teeth whitening: Get your bright smile back by simply using clear custom-made trays along with a professional bleaching product. Talk to your dentist about this convenient solution and enjoy the results!
Veneers
Veneers are a highly natural-looking dental restoration option. They are attached to the front part of teeth and cannot be removed. They can change the shape and colour of teeth as well as mask defects. Veneers are made of very fine tooth-coloured porcelain.
Whitening
Teeth whitening is a popular cosmetic dentistry procedure. Over the past 10 years, whitening techniques have greatly improved. Accessible, non-invasive, and simple, ZOOM ADVANCE is the ultimate in whitening techniques available on the market.
Periodontics
Bone preservation
Tooth extraction may be advised when a tooth shows severe periodontal disease, is broken, or has an abscess. When a tooth is extracted, a combination of factors contributes to the bone remodeling process. The preferred approach to preserve sufficient bone level is bone preservation, a technique that offers the widest choice of replacement for one or several extracted teeth.
Crown lengthening
A tooth with a break or cavity below the gumline cannot be restored properly since access and visibility are compromised. Surgery is necessary, therefore, to restore the tooth. The procedure is called crown lengthening.
This is a minor procedure that reduces the height of the gum and bone to expose the decayed or broken part and increase the crown portion of the tooth. Once the operation is completed, the dentist can restore the tooth while maintaining the space needed between the repair or crown and the supporting tissues.
Exposure of an impacted tooth (teeth)
What is an impacted tooth? In some patients, genetics has decided that there is insufficient space in the mouth for all the teeth. In effect, the impacted tooth is stuck in the gum due to poor positioning. To enable the teeth to erupt in the right place, part of them must be exposed surgically. This treatment is generally performed with an orthodontist. It involves minor surgery under a local anesthetic.
Labial and lingual frenectomy
Frena are folds of mucous membrane that connect the lip to the gum and the floor of the mouth to the tongue. Since the frenum creates tension on the gum, it can retract and increase the risk of the teeth loosening. Performing a frenectomy can remedy these problems. Frenectomy is a simple surgery that consists of incising the frenum to eliminate its tensile effect.
Occlusal stint
An occlusal stint or bite guard is a custom molded plastic appliance made from an imprint of the teeth. It is recommended for persons suffering from bruxism and/or clenching and grinding of the teeth.
Splinting
Splinting is recommended when there is bone loss or major loosening of the teeth. Splinting or joining a tooth to a neighbouring tooth or teeth helps redistribute the forces exerted on all the teeth during chewing and supports teeth that are weakened.
Tissue graft
A tissue graft is when a thin layer of tissue is removed from the roof of the mouth, or a tissue donor may be used. The tissue is grafted to the area where the gum has receded to reinforce and rebuild the attached gum, thereby stabilizing the area. The success rate of this procedure is excellent.
Orthodontics
Buccal braces
Buccal braces are the best-known orthodontic treatment; the braces are placed in front of the teeth. We use a combination of metal braces (the smallest in the industry) and transparent braces. The transparent braces offer esthetics, comfort and discretion.
Maxillofacial
Apicoectomy
At times root canal treatment may not be curative. A relapse may present itself in the form of an infection located at the tip of the dental root. This may be an indication for an apicoectomy. This surgical procedure is aimed at treating the tissues at the root tip of the infected tooth. A small portion of the root tip is excised and the adjacent inflamed/infected tissues are curetted thereby allowing natural healing and preservation of the tooth.
Pre-prosthetic surgery
Following the loss of the natural dentition, important changes and remodeling of the jaw bones are initiated. Resulting in uneven or mobile gums can render dental prosthesis (dentures) unstable and uncomfortable. Pre-prosthetic surgery encompasses a number of minor procedures aimed at correcting hard and soft tissue irregularities prior to prosthetic replacement. Once these procedures usually optimize prosthetic comfort and stability.
Wisdom teeth
Third molars or wisdom teeth are so named because they are usually the last teeth of the adult dentition to erupt, usually between the ages of 15 to 25. When there is insufficient space or the angle of eruption is unfavorable, the tooth may remain impacted or only partially erupt through the gingiva. These teeth, if not removed, may cause problems such as infections, pain, damage to adjacent teeth, and cysts in the jawbones. At the consultation, your oral surgeon will assess the level of risk of removal, your level of anxiety, and then decide if removal is indicated and, if so, the best technique to do so for your safety and comfort.
Implantology
Bone graft (Implantology)
Depending on the amount of remaining bone and the specific clinic’s staff, either the periodontist or the dental surgeon may need to perform this procedure to preserve the long-term stability of the implant.
Dental implants
Dental implants are an advanced solution to replacing one or more missing teeth without changing the structure of the adjacent teeth. It also stimulates the bone in which it is implanted.
